AlarmSong writes a song about your day. To do that it has to read what your day looks like, and send it to services that write words and make music. This page says exactly what leaves your phone, where it goes, and how to make it stop. We have tried to write it plainly, because a privacy policy nobody can read protects nobody.

What we collect, and why

When you ask for a song, your phone sends us:

• The titles and times of your calendar events for the day ahead, and up to four from yesterday. This is what the song is about.
• The name you chose to be called in the song. It does not have to be your real one.
• The date, your wake-up time, the music styles you picked, the language, and the song length.
• Anything you typed yourself in the “sing about this” field.
• An anonymous device number, used only to count songs against the daily limit. It is not your advertising ID and it does not follow you between apps.

If you create an account, we also keep your email address, the name your sign-in provider gives us, and which provider it was (Apple, Google, or an email code). An account exists so your songs survive a new phone. You can use AlarmSong without one.

Our server keeps ordinary request logs, which include the network address your phone connected from. They exist to keep the service running and are deleted within 30 days.

What we do not collect

We do not read your contacts, messages, photos, browsing, or location. We do not track you across apps or sites. We show no advertising, and we do not sell or rent anything about you to anyone. There is no analytics inside the app — no counter, no crash reporter, no advertising kit. This website is a separate matter, and the next section says so.

Your calendar is not stored. Event titles travel to our server, become the words of a song, and are not written to any database of ours. What remains afterwards is the song itself, which contains those words because it sings about them.

Who else sees your day

This is the part that matters most, so it is spelled out. To make one song, what you sent is passed to these companies:

• The service that writes the lyrics. Today this is DeepSeek, a company that processes and stores data in the People’s Republic of China. Your event titles and the name you chose go to it. We are working to replace it with a provider inside the European Union or the United States, and this page will say so when we do.
• The service that composes and sings the music, which receives the finished lyrics. We use more than one, and which one runs depends on the style and the load.
• Our server host, Vultr, in the United States, where the song file sits until it is deleted.
• The service that emails your sign-in code, Resend, if you sign in by email.
• Apple and Google, if you sign in with them or buy something. They tell us that a person signed in; they do not get your calendar.

These companies act for us under their own terms, and we require them to protect what we send with safeguards comparable to our own. We do not give them permission to sell it or to use it for their own advertising.

Because of the first item, we ask for your explicit permission before the app reads your calendar for the first time, and the app says at that moment that the contents go to an outside artificial intelligence. If you say no, AlarmSong still writes you a song — it just sings about the morning instead of your day.

This website

Everything above is about the app. The website you are reading uses two visitor counters, and they are not the same thing as the app.

• Google Analytics, run by Google LLC in the United States.
• Yandex Metrica, run by Yandex LLC, which processes the data in Russia. Session recording is switched off: we do not watch what you do on the page.

Both set cookies and both see the same ordinary things: your network address, roughly where in the world you are, your browser and device, which pages you opened, how you arrived, and what you clicked. Neither of them is given anything from the app: no calendar, no songs, no account. If you have never opened the website, neither of them has ever seen you.

We use them to know whether anyone is finding this thing at all. If you would rather they did not, any browser can block cookies for this site, and the site keeps working.

How long we keep things

• Songs without an account: three days, then the file and its words are deleted automatically.
• Songs with an account: thirty days. Songs you marked with a heart are kept until you remove the heart or delete your account.
• Your account: until you delete it.
• Sign-in codes: minutes. Server logs: up to thirty days.
• Website counters: kept by Google and Yandex under their own rules, up to fourteen months.

Your choices

Refuse the calendar, or take it back. The app asks before it reads anything. You can withdraw that permission at any time in your phone’s settings, and the app keeps working without it.

Delete everything. In the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. It is immediate and final. If you no longer have the app, write to hello@alarmsong.com from the address you signed in with. The full description is on the deletion page.

Ask us what we hold. Write to the same address and we will send you a copy, or correct something that is wrong. If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, these are your rights under the GDPR — access, correction, erasure, portability, objection — and you may also complain to your national data protection authority.

The legal basis for making your song is the agreement between us; for reading your calendar it is your explicit consent, which you can withdraw whenever you like.

Children

AlarmSong is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. If you believe a child has used it, write to us and we will erase what we have.

Changes

If we change who sees your data or what we collect, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect, not only on this page. The date at the top always shows the current version.
